Insights® Discovery Training
in Switzerland
Insights® Discovery is a powerful tool for personal- and team-development, helping us better understand how we, and those around us, function and interact. This deeper understanding strengthens teamwork, communication and collaboration, leading to higher engagement and sustainable team performance.
Workshops & Training for Companies & Teams
Insights® Discovery is one of the most widely used personality tools worldwide. It is based on the work of the Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung, who was a pioneer in the field of typology.
When you fill out the online Insights® Discovery Evaluator, you will receive a personal, detailed report that forms the basis for individual reflection, coaching and team development workshops. These Insights profiles are very detailed and use a color scheme that is easy to remember and provides an effective basis for improving communication, teamwork and leadership.

History of the Insights® Discovery Personality Instrument
Like the Myers Briggs MBTI tool, Insights® Discovery is based on the extensive research of Swiss psychologist Dr Carl Gustav Jung and the work of one of Jung’s students, Jolande Jacobi.
During the World War II, Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers used Jung and Jacobi’s work to create one of the first psychometric instruments, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) which is today still the most widely used psychometric instrument worldwide.
The Insights® Discovery model was developed by Andi and Andy Lothian (the founders of the Insights Group) in the late 90’s and built on Jung and Jacobi’s research by creating a four-colour model to represent observable behavioural patterns.
The 4 Personality Colours
The 4 colours of the Insights® Discovery model represent different types of “energy” or, as Jung called them, “attitudinal functions”. No one colour is better or worse than the others, and each person uses a different mixture of them. This often helps explain our different behaviours and preferences.
Understanding, valuing and using these differences improves relationships and helps teams unlock their full potential.
RED Extraverted Thinking
Red represents the combination of extraversion and thinking: competitive, demanding, determined, strong-willed, purposeful
BLUE Introverted Thinking
Blue represents the combination of introversion and thinking: cautious, precise, deliberate, questioning, formal
YELLOW Extraverted Feeling
Yellow represents the combination of extraversion and feeling: sociable, dynamic, demonstrative, enthusiastic, persuasive
GREEN Introverted Feeling
Green represents the combination of introversion and feeling: caring, encouraging, sharing, patient, relaxed
Example Profile
Participants generally find the Insights® Discovery colours very easy to remember and the model can provide a useful and neutral “common language”, reducing conflict and providing a safe way to speak about interpersonal relationships in groups and teams.

4 Steps for Using Insights® Discovery
This is how Insights® Discovery is typically used to help facilitate individual learning, collaboration and teamwork:
1. Participants are informed upfront about the reason for using the Insights® Discovery instrument, and the benefits. They are provided with background information and given the opportunity to have any questions answered.
2. Participants receive an invitation via email to complete the online, confidential Insights® Discovery Evaluator composed of 25 multiple-choice questions. The questionnaire usually takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.
3. A certified Insights® Discovery trainer creates individual, detailed personality profiles for each participant.
4. The individual Insights reports are shared with participants, either in an individual debriefing session (face-to-face or virtual), or in a workshop setting. The reports are confidential, and are only shared with others with the permission of the participant.
Licensed Practitioner
As licensed users of the Insights® Discovery system, we only provide results and reports in combination with an individual debriefing or attendance at a workshop.
In our workshops and training we often use a large Insights® Discovery wheel or “mat” placed on the floor and participants may choose to take up their respective positions on the wheel in order to illustrate the psychological relationship to other group members.
We deliver our workshops, training and coaching either virtually or in live sessions, for example in Zurich, Zug, Basel, Baar, Bern, Lucerne, Winterthur, St. Gallen and the rest of Switzerland.
Validity and Reliability
Insights® Discovery has been validated based on data from millions of profiles created worldwide over more than 20 years.
The instrument has been independently validated by the Psychological Testing Centre (PTC) of the British Psychological Society and has received their PTC Kitemark certification for compliance with the test guidelines of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA).
It has also been certified by global quality assurance and psychological test assessors DNV GL.

FAQ
Insights Discovery
-
What is Insights Discovery?Insights® Discovery is a psychometric tool used to identify a person’s personal preferences. It is based on the theory of typology developed in 1921 by the Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung. It uses the dichotomies of extraversion-introversion, thinking-feeling, and intuition-sensing to represent a person’s style according to a four-colour model.
-
What is the meaning of the four Insights Discovery colours? The four colours of the Insights® Discovery model (red, yellow, green and blue) are used to represent a person’s individual preferences for interacting with the external environment. Red is used to represent a preference for extraversion and thinking, yellow for extraversion and feeling, green for introversion and feeling, and blue for introversion and thinking.
-
What is the four colour model of Insights Discovery? The four-color model of Insights® Discovery is based on the typology theory of Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung and represents an individual’s preference for focussing on the inner or outer world (introversion versus extraversion), thinking versus feeling when making decisions, and sensing versus intuition when assimilating data from the environment.
-
How much does an Insights Discovery test cost?An Insights® Discovery “test” typically costs between SFr 180 and SFr 250. The cost depends on many factors such as the institution conducting the test, the context (individual coaching session or a group training), the number of optional modules included, etc. It’s actually not a test but a non-judgmental assessment of a person's preferences for interacting with their internal and external environments. For a detailed quote, please contact us.

Where can I do an Insights Discovery online test? The Insights online test can be completed here and takes about 15 minutes to complete. Please contact us in advance to discuss your exact needs. We don't call it a "test" (because there are no right or wrong answers), but an "Evaluator". The Evaluator provides a non-judging assessment of a person's preferences for interacting with others, and the world around them.

Where can I get Insights Discovery building blocks? We supply the colored Insights blocks to participants in our programs and to those completing the Insights Discovery test. The building blocks are a handy way to remind yourself, and others, of your preferred use of colour energies. We find that many program participants like to have them on display on their desks and that this can also trigger helpful discussions with colleagues about preferred working styles. You can also contact us to receive your own set of Insights coloured blocks.
