You’ve heard of Insights® Discovery. What about Insights Explore, Full Circle and Microsoft Teams?
We’ve spoken at length about the benefits of Insights® Discovery as a tool for businesses. Did you know that Insights® offers other products too? Today we’ll be talking about Discovery, Explore, Discovery Full Circle and the Microsoft Teams integrated app. We’ll dig through the jargon and cover what each one does, who it’s best suited to and guide you to the right tool for your organization.
Insights® Discovery
The most widely used at present, Insights® Discovery is a psychometric tool based on the work of psychologist Carl Jung. It uses a simple four colour model that helps individuals understand more about themselves, those around them and how they can tap into their strengths within the workplace.
There are four colour energies: fiery red, sunshine yellow, earth green and cool blue. Individuals tend to have a strong preference towards the attributes common to one or two of these colours. Having an awareness of your own – and your colleagues’ – colour preferences can change the game when it comes to negotiations, performance and cohesive teamwork.
Each individual participates in an online evaluation in advance of a session with a licensed trainer. Everyone receives a comprehensive, personalized Insights® Discovery profile explaining their colour preferences, working style and more. The workshop includes an overview of the methodology behind the Insights tool, interactive exercises and facilitated discussions based on workplace scenarios. Insights® Explore
Insights® Explore is a digital tool, perhaps most easily described as a ‘quick’ online version of Insights® Discovery. Participants undertake the same online questionnaire as for Insights® Discovery and receive their results instantly in an app. There is no paper or PDF personal profile, all results are displayed in the Insights® Explore app.
The app is broken down into clear, interactive sections. There’s an overview of your colour energy preferences, tips on how to communicate with people of other colour energies and learning areas that focus on topics such as remote work and wellbeing.
The downside to Explore over Discovery is that to improve team dynamics, each coworker has to put effort into utilizing the app’s features to learn how to best interact with their colleagues.

Who’s it for?
Insights® Explore is ideal for cascading down through all levels of an organization. For example, if a leadership team has worked with Insights® Discovery and wants to scale the teachings across the board, without arranging multiple workshops for a large number of people, this digital version fills the gap.
Insights® Discovery Full Circle
Insights® Discovery Full Circle is based on the 360-degree review method. This tool is for in-depth feedback on an individual basis, aimed at those working at a leadership level.
Up to 12 people that work intensively with an individual are sent the Insights online evaluation – the same questionnaire used in both Discovery and Explore. These participants answer the questions with the view of the leader in mind – e.g. how they perceive the leader would respond to each situation. A variety of contributors is desired in order to get feedback from all directions. This includes managers, direct reports, peers as well as internal and external stakeholders.
The leader can use this information to compare how they perceive their working style to how they’re perceived by the team around them. Due to the time commitment required from multiple people within a company, it is a serious, but highly insightful, undertaking.
Tree Trunk Partners often use Full Circle as a tool to complement longer term leadership coaching. Hartmut draws on his 25 years experience as a leader himself to develop a specific plan tailored to what an individual is seeking from one-to-one guidance.
Who’s it for?
Leaders who want to understand better how their team perceive them and use this information to become more impactful motivators and develop their leadership style. This tool can be used as a follow-up from an Insights® Discovery session. If a development opportunity is identified in a workshop with a leadership team, Full Circle can offer a comprehensive investigation into this.
Insights® Discovery for Microsoft Teams
Insights® Discovery for Microsoft Teams is a plug-in app that can be used for teams who have Insights® Discovery profiles and use the MS Teams app at work.
The software extension is designed to display key information, at a glance, about each team member to their colleagues. Each person’s profile summary on Microsoft Teams displays their colour energy preferences, strengths, weaknesses and communication Do’s and Don’ts.

The app settings are customizable so people are able to choose what is publicly available for others to see. Before entering an online meeting, you can see the colour energy preferences for colleagues you are about to speak with and you can opt for quick communication advice, tailored to that individual, in real-time during a conversation.
Colleagues can compare profiles with others quickly and easily. The idea is to make meetings more productive – you can solely focus your energy on the task. There is a virtual helping hand to assist with the team dynamics so you’re not spending time wondering how to best appeal to another person on the call.
